Mary Ward, PhD
Licensed Mental Health Therapist
Hello and Welcome!
I’m so glad you’ve made the choice to find support and connection in the therapeutic process. I’m here for you in each step you take toward your goals.
My approach to therapy goes beyond traditional talk therapy by combining embodied practices including mindfulness, yoga-based movement, Somatic Experiencing, Walk & Talk, art, play, and nature-based therapy with clinical methods such as CBT, DBT, ACT to create an experience that fosters deep connection and centers your unique needs.
I work with clients ages 3-adult and specialize in anxiety, OCD, depression, identity issues, body image, self-esteem, grief, stress management, school-related stress, life transitions, ASD, and trauma. I believe connection is the key to a truly therapeutic experience and I work from a holistic, person-centered approach at all times.
For children and teens, I think many of the struggles we see are caused when they are unable to recognize and communicate their needs and when their bodies/minds/emotions are dysregulated. These struggles often stem from an internal need (security, connection, rest) that is not being met or is being negatively impacted by the external environment (school, home, peers, social media).
My job is to teach skills for connection to self, self-regulation, and communication.
I believe everyone has the capacity for change when they are in a supportive and explorative environment where they learn and practice skills for nervous system regulation, recognition of emotions and needs, healthy coping skills, a strong sense of identity, and empathic communication.
I’m looking forward to working alongside you or your child to meet your goals toward growth and healing.
